Welcome to our Summer Series with Allison Kvikstad: Your Finances and Major Life Transitions

This month's topic is: Sandwich Generation – Navigating Finances for Yourself, Aging Parents, and Kids

Navigating personal finances can be especially challenging for members of the sandwich generation – individuals who are simultaneously caring for aging parents while supporting their own children. This dual responsibility often places significant emotional and financial strain on individuals as they juggle the competing demands such as healthcare costs, education expenses, and their own retirement planning.

Understanding how to effectively manage personal finances is always important, but even more so during this challenging phase of life. This discussion will explore the financial pressures faced by the sandwich generation and educate attendees on strategies to help navigate these complex challenges.

Soft Tarot with Kari Iverson {Member Meetup}

This week's discussion topic is: Soft Tarot

This member-led meetup will be hosted by Kari Iverson!

Join Kari from 12 - 1 pm  for a casual, in-person member meetup at The Hivery.

From Kari: Need a little magic that doesn’t take itself too seriously? Calling all mystics, skeptics, and everyone in between—this women’s circle is your invitation to exhale, giggle, and maybe receive a cosmic wink from the universe.

We’ll kick things off with a short guided meditation to clear the mind, then dive into the real fun: tarot! But don’t worry, no pressure to predict your destiny—this is lazy tarot, where cards get pulled, eyebrows get raised, and meanings are interpreted in small groups with intuition and a sense of humor.

With a short, soul-nourishing writing prompt to finish, this is your chance to play with intuition, sip on connection, and maybe laugh till your third eye twitches! Come as you are :)

Writing Fiction: Getting Started and Sticking With It with Meghen Kurtzig {Member Meetup}

Hosted by Meghen Kurtzig at The Hivery | July 17 | 12 - 1 PM | Mill Valley, CA

This week's discussion topic is: Writing Fiction: Getting Started and Sticking With It

This member-led meetup will be hosted by Meghen Kurtzig

Join Meghen from 12 - 1 pm  for a casual, in-person member meetup at The Hivery.

From Kerry: Do you have a story idea? When I tell people I spend my days writing fiction, they often respond with "I have an idea for a story!" Some just want to share the idea but many others will ask me how to get started.

If you have a story that longs to be told and are looking for inspiration on how to bring it to life, please join me. Maybe you've started a story, but don't know how to keep coming back to it. Maybe it hasn't decided if it wants to be a short story, a novel, or flash fiction. I'd love to hear about it and help you navigate different ways of bringing your words into the world.

No writing experience necessary. I had zero when I started writing and have now been writing fiction for a decade. I've published a literary short story and essays on writing. I've collected rejections on my first novel and am chipping away at my second. I'm happy to share my tips and tricks on getting words out of your head and onto the page as well as how to keep coming back to the work.

This meetup can be the beginning of the discussion and if you want to continue the pep-talk please check out the podcast Writing is a Verb for more thoughts from me and my amazing writing group. It kept us busy during the pandemic and we hope it inspires your creativity.

Fjord

Fjord is a floating sauna and plunge experience on the San Francisco Bay. It’s an escape from climate controlled comfort zones and uninspired routines. It's a new way to start your day. End your week. Charge up. Wind down. Meet a friend. Take that moment alone. Socialize or sit in silence. Fjord believes heat is the best medicine. That if it's physical, it's therapy. Farmhouse Lab

Farmhouse Lab is a brand for joyful, sustainable plant-based eating that encourages to make food more often at home again and to share it in community. With that, we want to help cultivate the plant-based revolution for the greater good.

We live by the motto “Consciously Sourced & Crafted”. We think it is essential that you know where each ingredient is sourced and how our dressings are crafted. We carefully select our partners throughout the entire process: from the olive farmers to the supply source of the bottles we use and the labels that we apply.

Daniela’s inspiration for creating high-quality, sustainably sourced, delicious dressings originated from her realization that the majority of dressings on the shelves contain emulsifiers, preservatives, artificial flavors and/or refined sugars. And what was easy for her to whip up in the kitchen wasn’t so simple for many on-the-go parents and professionals. With the start of her own family, combined with her love of entertaining and passion for sustainability, it was a natural for Daniela to create a business designed to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Member Meetup: Rooted in Solidarity with Sarah Lee

Hosted by Sarah Lee at The Hivery | June 12 | 12 - 1 PM | Mill Valley, CA

This week's discussion topic is: Rooted in Solidarity: A Circle for Collective Support & Belonging

This member-led meetup will be hosted by Sarah Lee

Join Sarah from 12 - 1 pm for a casual, in-person member meetup at The Hivery.

Imagine walking into a cozy, welcoming circle where you instantly feel like you belong. The vibe is heartfelt, honest, and grounded—like exhaling after holding your breath for too long.

At this meetup, we’ll share stories, reflect on what it means to navigate challenges in today’s world, and explore how we can show up more fully for ourselves and each other. Through guidance and space held by Sarah, yoga & meditation teacher, coach, and professor (she teaches topics on diversity, organizational behavior, and cross-cultural differences), you’ll be invited (never pressured) to speak from the heart, listen deeply, and connect across lines of difference in a space where every woman’s story is valued.

The session will start with a grounding practice or meditation led by Sarah, then some discussion questions for us to center around the idea of upholding the values of the Hivery - kindness, creativity, and community.

Whether you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, seeking inspiration, or just craving real connection—this circle is for you. Come as you are, and leave feeling seen, supported, and re-rooted.

Bring your lunch (brown bag style!) or order from the Hivery Secret Menu at Tamalpie (and pick up).

All members welcome!

Plan to Finish: A Project Planning Workshop with Megan Flatt

Hosted by Megan Flatt at The Hivery | June 3 | 11:00 AM–12:30 PM | Mill Valley

Got a project you really want to wrap up before summer starts? Or a fresh idea you’re finally ready to bring to life while the pace slows down?

Join us for a focused, 90-minute workshop designed to help you get clear, get organized, and get going. Whether you're launching something new or tying up loose ends before summer, you'll walk away with a complete project plan and a realistic timeline to make it happen.

During our time together, we’ll:

  • Select and define a project that matters to you

  • Clarify what success looks like (aka what “done” really means)

  • Break it down into bite-sized, doable tasks

  • Plug it into your calendar with a realistic timeline

Plus, you’ll learn the one key definition that blows everyone’s mind — and will totally change the way you approach planning going forward.

You’ll leave with a clear plan you can follow and finish — and yes, we’ll be using Post-it notes to make it visual, flexible, and fun.

Who it’s for:
Entrepreneurs, creatives, business owners, and big thinkers who are juggling a lot and want a proven, low-stress way to finish something meaningful before the season shifts.

What to bring:
Bring your project ideas, your calendar or planner, a pen, and your favorite sticky notes if you’ve got them (we’ll have extras, too).

This is a Hivery community event.

How to Tell Your Story with Katherine Kennedy

How to Tell Your Story with Katherine Kennedy

We are excited to announce our August Guest Masterclass Speaker, Katherine Kennedy!

We all have a story to tell, what is your story?

In this masterclass we will create a brave, fun, reflective space. We will find how to tell the story that lies within each of us. We will discover ourselves.

Expect laughter, maybe a few tears, and above all a supportive and courageous space where you can learn a simple framework that will help you tell your authentic story.

This will be an interactive, introspective chance to look at your own story with a new lens and perspective.

You will walk away from this class with:

  1. A framework to tell your story with more authenticity and confidence

  2. A deeper understanding of yourself and your values

  3. Inspiration to connect more deeply with others, tell your story, and make an impact!

Katherine Kennedy is a Story Coach.

Katherine learned how to help people tell their story from being a mentor to over 1000 high school students during a formative two decades working at Summer Search, a nonprofit organization helping kids be the first in their families to go to college.

In 2015, she started her own coaching business focused on helping people tell their story and communicate with more authenticity and confidence. She has coached people on TED talks, toasts, presentations, and any time someone needs to share what they think and feel and want help organizing those thoughts and making it land right in the audience’s heart. That is what she does for others and what she did with her debut book Speaking to What Matters.

Katherine is also a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She is grateful to have found her purpose but knows in her heart and soul that it is her relationships with the people in her life that make life meaningful and worthwhile. To her, this is what matters most.

Nothing brings her more joy than an honest, deep conversation. Well, maybe, a hearty, howling laugh!  And most recently she is ecstatic about her early mornings watching the sunrise in the cold waters of the San Francisco Bay!

Branding for Small Business Owners with Monique Johnson

Branding for Small Business Owners with Monique Johnson

We are excited to announce our July Guest Masterclass Speaker, Monique Johnson!

What is Branding?

How do I create effective branding?

Why is it important to my business?

If you have ever asked yourself these questions, this masterclass is for you! Branding expert, Monique Johnson of MoJo Design, will teach us what it means to develop a clear message behind your branding and how to carry it through all of your collateral to create a look and feel that resonates with your customers and establishes a trustworthy brand.

You will walk away from this class with:

  1. A clear understanding of what branding is

  2. The importance of branding to any business

  3. How to create an effective brand for your business.

Monique Johnson is an explorer and a storyteller.

Growing up on nine acres of rural mountain terrain, Monique began to explore and create stories at an early age in her very own backyard. At 10, she would ride her bike across dirt back roads in search of long-forgotten foundations of abandoned homes. She would begin an “archeological dig” and when she found an artifact, she would let her thoughts run wild with all the possibilities of what could have been.

Even today, her most creative ideas blossom from stepping outside – literally and figuratively. Monique inspires self-discovery through exploration and a sense of adventure so that others can achieve their dreams with authenticity.

Monique started MoJo Design 16 years ago to help entrepreneurs explore and share their stories with the world. For Monique, the collaborative journey is just as important as arriving at the destination. That is why she helps her customers ‘get outside’ and take creative leaps that inspire the best brand ideas for their business. Monique’s work spans uncovering and clarifying an element of brand identity, to developing complete brand experiences from scratch.

How to use the Enneagram to Create Your Next Chapter with Kim Scott

How to use the Enneagram to Create Your Next Chapter with Kim Scott

We are excited to announce our June Guest Masterclass Speaker, Kim Scott!

The Enneagram is a holistic and deep spiritual wisdom tool offering guiding principles for self-transformation, grounded in understanding your strengths, patterns, and challenges. If used properly, the Enneagram is a powerful tool.

It’s not about “typing” you or putting you in a box; in fact, quite the contrary - Enneagram wisdom helps you to break free of the box you have put yourself in and enlightens your understanding of how your unconscious, habitual, and patterned responses and reactions might be holding you back and limiting your growth and ability to see things clearly.

In this Masterclass, Kim will guide us through developing internal self-awareness and the motivations that drive our behavior, discovering our superpowers and the insight to leverage these superpowers as we develop new habits and learn to align our business and creative aspirations with our natural strengths.

You'll walk away from this masterclass with:

• Self-Awareness to Know Thyself to recognize and manage your emotions and stressors

● Ways to Practice Presence as a means to transcend your unconscious patterned responses and reactions

● Productivity Strategies as you learn to leverage your superpower in a positive way

● Relational Marketing Intelligence to create effective messaging that resonates with your clients

Kim Scott
brings much wisdom and insight from a 20-year career as a Human Resources executive specializing in Organizational Development and from her second career of 20 years as a Ministry Leader. Kim is now a podcaster, writer, and speaker. She describes herself as a storyteller, dreamer, and bridge builder but above all, she is a force for hope and healing. Kim lives in Henderson, Nevada with her husband, Gary and their 19-year old daughter, Kiara.
